Chapathis

>> Monday, March 30, 2009

Let me start blogging with my comfort & staple food for north indian i.e. roti (or) chapathi. This is made with wheat flour as base can be substituted or added with other flours like soya flour, cornflour, maida which taste different & tasty. We often prepare chukka chapathis with some veg or non-veg curries.

Even different stuffed rotis can be prepared with ur own choice of vegetables. Whenever if I want to host my guest, chapathi would be the first in the menu. Especially during sundays dinner, chapathi is my predominant dish. I like to serve them hot with some raw onion rings & carrots.

Ingredients :
  1. Wheat flour - 1 cup
  2. Hot oil - 2 tbsp
  3. Warm water - 1/4 cup (Plus or minus the qty)
  4. Salt to taste

Cooking method :

  • * Combine wheat flour, hot oil & salt together & mix well.
  • * Now knead the dough with warm water little at time. (I prefer covering the dough with wet cloth till I cook)
  • * Divide the dough into small balls which resembles like a tennis ball. And start rolling them to a full moon (or ur desired shape) using the roller.
  • * Heat the pan on medium high, cook the chapathis on either side till golden brown.

Serve hot with veg or non-veg curries.
